Get Involved

You can support Farmers Helping Farmers by becoming a member, making a donation, or volunteering your time with our organization. These are ways you can make a positive difference today.

Fundraising:

We raise funds for our projects in a variety of different ways. Our volunteer members of Farmers Helping Farmers hold a large annual summer barbecue, as well as a smaller Christmas variety concert. African Crafts, purchased during our visits to Africa, are also sold at different venues held across the Island. We also rely on donations from individuals, corporations and community groups. Donations are tax deductible. The Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) contributes two dollars for every dollar we raise for approved projects.

Membership:

We welcome new members who would like to commit some of their time to our efforts. Although most of our members are farmers, we encourage other individuals that share our same objectives, to join. We also need help educating the public using the various resources we have available. The broader the understanding of the situation these East African farmers endure, the more effective Farmers Helping Farmers projects can be. Membership provides you with:

  • A quarterly newsletter updating you on the progress of our projects and our upcoming activities.
  • An opportunity to meet like-minded people through social activities, fundraising events and annual general meetings.
  • An opportunity to have input into the development of our projects.

Donations:

When you make a donation, you support our work and provide an investment in the future for our global partners. Donating to Farmers Helping Farmers supports our projects and enhances our education efforts.

Examples of what your donation dollars can do for the farm families we partner with:

  • $25 Buys medication to treat a cow for mastitis, an udder ailment which inhibits the use of the cow's milk.
  • *$50 Buys 5 shovels for members of the Muchui Women's Group to assist them with their tree nursery project.
  • $100 Buys 50 library books for a school.
  • *$150 Buys all the supplies necessary to start a tree nursery for a member of the Muchui Women's Group.
  • *$200 Provides loan money for the purchase of one cow through revolving credit.

* CIDA is a partner in these projects and will contribute $2 for every $1 you donate.
