January 26, 2020
You may have noticed our shiny new logo, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Farmers Helping Farmers.
In 2020, we will be looking back, to remember our accomplishments over the last four decades, along with our many partners in Kenya.
We will be paying tribute to the founders of Farmers Helping Farmers.
You can read more about our history here. We will be adding photos and information throughout this anniversary year.
But we are also looking ahead, as our new project with Global Affairs Canada gathers momentum.
FHF has signed an agreement with Global Affairs Canada for a four-year project with $1 million in federal funding.
The project, More Food, Better Food: Empowering Kenyan Women Farmers, will combine the full range of our proven approaches to improve food security and nutrition of hundreds more farm families.
Work is already underway to develop a plan, establish agreements with a range of partners, hire additional staff in Kenya, purchase water tanks and solar lamps, and gather baseline data.
More Food, Better Food will require us to attain a new level of volunteer involvement and donor support.
Over the four years, 49 volunteers will be needed for three week placements in Kenya, and over $250,000 will need to be raised to contribute FHF’s share of the project’s cash needs.
We hope you will join us in 2020 in celebrating the past and moving ahead, continuing to make a difference with our partners in Kenya.
Watch for the blog posts and photos from our first group of travellers in 2020 who have just arrived in Kenya.
Asante. Thank you.
