Chef Emily Wells cooks up another delicious Fall Harvest Fundraiser, despite Fiona

$10,000 raised from Fall Harvest Suppers will help support FHF education programs in Kenya

Even damage from post-tropical storm Fiona could not put a damper on the popular Fall Harvest Suppers at The Mill in New Glasgow.

Chef Emily Wells and her team got back to action as soon as power was restored, and it was all systems go, to be ready for the Friday and Saturday sittings of the Thanksgiving weekend.

The Fall Harvest Suppers are truly a team effort, as Chef Emily’s staff donate their time and tips, and producers donate food for the meals.

And what a meal it was, with a choice of carrot squash soup or mixed greens with honey mustard dressing to start; a main course featuring heaping portions of roast pork loin and fixings, or roasted vegetable ratatouille, concluding with a choice of chocolate zucchini cake or cranberry blueberry crumble. All of it was delicious!!

There was one nerve-wracking moment on Saturday night when the lights went out for a few minutes, but that was only temporary. An added bonus on Saturday was music from Jon Rehder in the upstairs dining room.

Despite the challenges of the storm, FHF supporters and Chef Emily fans turned up in force, helping to raise an impressive $10,000 in just two days!!

The money will be sent to Kenya where it will be used to support projects of the Farmers Helping Farmers Education Committee. With Meru County experiencing the worst drought in decades, the funds will help to get important supplies, including food, to FHF partners.
