Farmers Helping Farmers is looking for a motivated secretary who can work from home.
Farmers Helping Farmers is a volunteer organization based in Prince Edward Island which carries out community-based projects in Kenya to improve food security for smallholding farmers and their families.
This is a part-time contract position. Workload will vary with two higher workloads; one in August and the other in November, December and January. Hours may increase conditional upon funding.
Responsibilities will include:
- Providing support to the volunteer Board of Directors
- Providing support to the Committees of the Board
- Providing support to fund raising activities
- Providing support to members of the organization
- Picking up mail and doing banking
Rate of pay: $20 per hour
Qualifications:
- Must have telephone, computer and printer/scanner as well as satisfactory internet connection
- Previous experience in performing required duties
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel as well as Gmail and Facebook
- Proven ability to work with a volunteer Board of Directors and Committee will be an asset
- Location near the Charlottetown post office and bank will be preferred
- Ability to administer the website will be an asset

Farmers Helping Farmers is looking for a Project Co-Manager for the four-year project funded by Global Affairs Canada entitled: More Food, Better Food: Empowering Kenyan Women Farmers.
Farmers Helping Farmers is a volunteer organization based in Prince Edward Island which carries out community-based projects in Kenya to improve food security for smallholding farmers and their families.
This is a part-time contract position focusing on the financial management and reporting components of the project. The level of effort will be a minimum of one day per week and the person is expected to work from home. The term is from now until November 30, 2023, the date on which all final reports are to be submitted to Global Affairs Canada.
The successful applicant will work with a Co-Manager responsible for management of most project operations, including volunteer recruitment and training, procurement and purchasing, management of Kenyan staff, liaison with Kenyan partners, and monitoring of project progress in the field. Some areas of responsibility will be shared by the Co-Managers as indicated below.
Responsibilities will include:
- Preparation of necessary quarterly and annual financial and performance reports for Global Affairs Canada
- Preparation of financial forecasts and quarterly funding requests to Global Affairs Canada
- With Co-Manager, contributing to the effective financial management of the project
- With Co-Manager, liaising with the Project Officer at Global Affairs Canada
- With Co-Manager, contributing to the preparation of annual work plans
- Providing information necessary for fund raising and updating membership
Rate of pay: $835 per month.
Qualifications:
- Training in accounting and familiar with Excel
- Experience preparing financial reports for the federal government
- Previous experience in performing required duties
